All products are subject to availability. We reserve the right to modify, discontinue, or limit product quantities at any time without notice. We make every effort to display product information accurately, but slight variations may occur.
4. Pricing & Payment
All prices are listed in GBP (£) and include VAT unless otherwise stated. We accept major credit/debit cards and other payment methods available at checkout. Orders are processed only after full payment is received.
5. Shipping & Delivery
Orders are dispatched within 1–2 working days. UK delivery typically takes 2–4 business days via Royal Mail Tracked 48. Shipping is free for subscriptions and orders over £50. We currently deliver only within the UK but plan to expand internationally soon.
6. Returns & Refunds
We offer a 30-day return policy from the date your order is delivered. To initiate a return, please contact hello@kyosmatcha.com before sending anything back. Returned items must be unused, sealed, and in their original packaging. Refunds will be issued to your original payment method within 5–10 working days after the returned product is received and approved. Shipping costs are non-refundable.

Subscription orders renew automatically according to your selected frequency. You may modify or cancel your subscription anytime before the next renewal date through your account or by contacting hello@kyosmatcha.com.

Long before matcha was a morning ritual, it was a meeting — of host and guest, silence and gesture, in a room built for nothing else. This is where the practice began.
CHANOYU
Tea, made into a way of living
In Japan, the preparation of matcha was never simply about drinking tea. Chanoyu which translates to "hot water for tea" grew over four centuries into a discipline touching architecture, ceramics, calligraphy, gardening, and conversation, all in service of a single shared bowl.
The 16th-century tea master Sen no Rikyū is credited with distilling the practice to its essence: strip away ornament, slow the hands, and let the guest feel that this moment this bowl, this light, this season will not come again.
| "Ichi-go ichi-e" — one time, one meeting. Every bowl is prepared as if it were the only one that will ever be shared.

Cleansing the utensils
Before a single scoop of matcha is measured, the host cleanses the tea bowl, the scoop, and the whisk in a fixed, deliberate order performed slowly enough for the guest to watch. It is the ceremony's way of saying: we are starting from nothing.

Preparation
Sifting and whisking
Sifted matcha is measured into the bowl with a bamboo scoop, hot water added in two motions, then whisked in a brisk "W" pattern with a bamboo chasen until a fine, even foam rises never stirred, always whisked from the wrist.

Presentation
Turning the bowl
The bowl is placed so its front — often its most decorated face points toward the guest, an offering of the finest side. The guest then turns it away from themselves before drinking, a small act of humility repeated for centuries.

Gratitude
Drinking, and the quiet after
The guest drinks in a few unhurried sips, wipes the rim, and studies the bowl itself before returning it. Little is said. The silence that follows is not empty, it is the part of the ceremony most easily missed by those in a hurry.

The room, prepared
Before a guest arrives, the room is already speaking, tatami swept, kettle warmed, bowl and whisk set exactly where the hands will need them. Nothing here is decorative. Every object is waiting to be used.
02 — THE WHISK
Where the rhythm lives
The chasen moves in short, brisk strokes from the wrist alone never the arm. It's the one moment in the ceremony that looks almost hurried, right before everything slows back down.
03 — THE OFFERING
The bowl, turned forward
Held up before it's set down, the bowl's finest face is presented toward the guest. It will be turned again before drinking, a small exchange of humility neither party needs to explain.
04 — THE POUR
Measured by hand, not by device
No thermometer, no marked line on the kettle just years of repetition until the right temperature and the right amount become something the hand simply knows.
